শারদ শুভেচ্ছা

The countdown has begun. The air is already filled with festivity & colour, vibrancy & excitement. Durga Puja in Bengal is a really BIG deal & I mean every bit of it. With the festivities all set to begin, everyone wants to look their best at all times because its a fashion galore here on the streets! You will see everyone dressed in their traditional best & I think its the perfect time to go desi. Durga Puja is all about Bengali culture & traditions, so its best to go ethnic but you can definitely style yourself in a contemporary way to stand out from the crowd.

I was recently invited at the Shoppers Stop Sananda Pujo'r Bazaar inaugurated by Actor Parambrata Chatterjee & Actress Priyanka Sarkar. There latest festive collection houses some eclectic designs in comfortable fabrics, rich Indian colors, quirky prints, traditional as well as modern silhouettes, delicate embroidery that reflect the joyous spirit of festivities. It certainly is the best fashion destination for all your shopping needs, from ethnic to western, fusion wear, cool accessories, statement jewellery & trendy bags & shoes. There is a something for everyone! Now I know all of you want to grab eye-balls and why not? You should  be decked in your traditional best. Here I am at your service ladies! I have created 4 different looks starting from Saptami (seventh) to Dashami (tenth). I prefer cotton, linen, khadi & handloom fabrics when it comes to indian attires. I don't like bling & a lot of embroidery when it comes to traditional outfits. While working on this Look Book, one of my main concern was also to budget myself, hence whatever I am wearing is not more than five thousand bucks (in fact its less if not more). I usually go low on jewellery & I avoid wearing heels due to the maddening crowd I encounter while pandal hopping.  These looks are created keeping in mind the current trends, colour palettes, prints & silhouettes in this A/W 2016 season. All the outfits are mix'd-&-match'd while keeping it simple, hassle-free, comfortable yet chic! Have a Look!

Maha Saptami

This Angarakha is love. The fabric is soft & doesn't stick to the body. The floral print works so beautifully. I would totally wear this on Saptami evening when I am headed out to meet my friends & hang around. Its chic, comfortable & definitely a head turner.

Maha Ashtami

Wearing ethnic outfits on Ashtami morning is something I cannot overlook. Opt for vibrant colours such as red, gold, white, orange, fuchsia pink if you want to indulge yourself in the festive mood. This is my morning look so I have kept it very subtle yet elegant by teaming up a printed layered kurta with asymmetric hemline and delicate embroidery on the neck & paired it with black churidar. Keeping it simple & clean in terms of makeup & jewellery. A bindi is a must for me!

Maha Navami

Make a statement with bold colours & cuts when it comes to evening gatherings on Navami. I have teamed up these gorgeous cigarette pants with a high slit tunic, traditional with a twist is always fun isn't it? There are so many different ways you can style this particular look. Its not too dressy but will definitely make you stand out from the crowd. Go for comfortable fabrics & minimal accessories considering the humidity & crowd.

Bijoyaa Dashami

Its the final day of festivity.  We celebrate Bijoyaa Dashami by paying respect to our ancestors & elders. The famous 'Sindoor Khela' is an important ritual as married women smear each other with 'sindoor'. You can never go wrong with an Anarkali suit, whether its floor length or short length. I love the colour combination, the delicate floral print & gold zari embroidery. Its not too loud but at the same time graceful & amps up your style quotient.

I hope this helps you dress up fabulously this Durga Puja. Also last minute shopaholics head over to your nearest Shoppers Stop outlet to check out their latest festive collection. I bet you'll have a tough time choosing an outfit because of their vast collection of sarees, tunics, anarkalis, kurtas, skirts, jewellery, accessories & footwear.

(P.S - Incase you're following me on Instagram/Snapchat I underwent an toe operation couple of days back which is why I couldn't wear shoes/heels. Sorry about that!)

Wishing my fashion bugs a very happy & blessed Durga Puja & Navratri. May the divine blessings of Maa Durga be with you always and bring happiness, joy, peace, content, health to you & your loved ones. Spend it with your family & friends. Have fun & Stay safe!
